Sata III cards

yes, but it is only a pci-e x1 slot, so max speed is 500MB/s total. If using two SSD/s speed will be better using onboard sata ports.

if you want sata 3 and a good connection to the motherboard, the last time I checked (a few weeks back) the best option was a adaptec 6805e (e is important, it is the non-raid 5 card). but at the high $200 (here anyway), it can make a new motherboard look attractive. For me (q6600) I have just decided to upgrade instead of patching this system along (need 2 more sata ports, wanting sata 3 "just cause". I also have a pci-e x4 slot spare so it makes finding the right controller harder than if I had a pci-e x8 slot (lots more options around).

I also looked into this a while ago with my crappy x58 Sabertooth board that had its SATA 6G connection over a single PCIe lane which was not enough to allow proper 6G speeds. So I used the SATA 3G controller built into the chipset (ICH10R if I remember right) and bided my time until I bought a new motherboard. Which I did on Tuesday - I now have a board with native 6G support.

Honestly, I'd suggest the same - just buy a new board, or accept 3G speeds.
