With this sataII (3g) How much better in performance are they? Is it very noticable? Right now i have 2 Segeate 160 g Pata drives. Should i wait on getting Sata drive or is the Pata drive moving to extinction.

No. Theres practically no difference in performance between sata/pata at this point so sata2 is still a standard ahead of its time.

The only way you might actually notice it is with a benchmark test program. With normal use and applications, SATA is not even noticeably different than PATA.

Ive noticed a slight increase over t he old raptors (sata) i had raided.......... windows loads one bar faster (i have a hitachi 160GB drive, filled half way, and my old set up had (x2) raptors, 36gb RAIDed......) then my raptors

i got SATA2 just for future proof of my rig
