Sata II drive......

yep same cable, make sure your mobo supports it though. If it is the the mobo in the sig than you are fine. Other than that you would need to use a controller which you don't want to do. Also just to let you know, you will not see much of a perfromence gain at all between SATA 1 and SATA 2 drives just yet. Even if you have it on 3gb/s mode you are still limted by the hardrives RPM speed.
