Sata ide raid?

If you have a controller with SATA and IDE drives, yes. Also, you could do this through software via Windows XP dynamic drives, IIRC. What RAID array type are you considering?

I'm new to raids I have a 300 GB WD and a 200 GB WD and I would like to raid them together... I do not have a controller was hoping to do it with software...

Are you doing this for performance gain? Just wondering, because it won't be much. Also, in relation to doing RAID 0, you must understand that if you have one drive go down, you will lose all of your information on both drives.

It is highly encouraged, especially for hardware RAID solutions. But it is very possible to do with different drives on software RAID setups.
