I've found a number of adapters that let you use an IDE drive in a SATA system, but I have a SATA drive that I'd like to use in an IDE only system.

Does this adapter exist? Or do I have to get a SATA PCI controller?

Get the PCI adapter, I've never seen an IDE to SATA adapter.

Apparently neither of you looked very hard.

an example

Actually, the example you provided are for IDE TO SATA. He's looking for the opposite.. If you read the pages, you'd notice. :D

Yeah, what he said. I found a lot of adapters going the other way (IDE drive to SATA controller), but none going the way I needed (SATA drive to IDE controller).

Thanks for trying though.

Dammit. Sorry about that; the link I copy-and-pasted there SAID it was for an adapter going the other way in the Google hit, but when you click through it, it's not. These things DO exist, though.

here is an ACTUAL adapter that will take a SATA drive and make it look like PATA

Abit mobos (I had a NF7-S) came w/ Serillel2 adapters... so I know they exist.

Edit: Probably not what you're looking for, sorry.

Well, you asked for the SATA->IDE adapter so you got it. Unfortunately, you're better off just using your SATA drive as SATA with a PCI -SATA controller.
