i want to make a mirror copy of my sata hard drive. i connected my extra sata hard drive and it wont load up. i use the kingwin mobile tray. i connected it in. the sata connectors are connected, the power too. when i boot up, i dont see the drive in bios. whats the problem?
and how do i determine what sata drive i want to boot windows from since i will be making a mirror copy of my hard drive to this back up sata drive.

load the sata drivers??? what drivers does a hard drive need? isnt it already built in? i didnt need any drivers for my wd raptor sata drive. you usually dont need any drivers for hard drives. is this new to sata? and isnt it at least supposed to auto detect at the very least and search for a driver for it?

I would assume you need the drivers also.

Is this drive on the same SATA controller as the Raptor?

If so, it does seem a little odd that you need drivers.

But if not, then you certainly do.

Have a look on your mobo manufacturer's website.

yea, its on the same controller. i connected it to the mother board. it had no trouble finding my raptor, so why would it have trouble finding my other western digitial hard drive? i dont even see any drivers on WD's website.

yep, it was the mobile tray. i connected it straight to the mother board and it detected it. then i went to disk management to initialize the drive and now its working 🙂 stupid kingwin mobile tray caused all my problems and now its past 30 days so i cant return it 🙁

i knew it sounded wierd that you had to load the driver for a hard drive.....
