Sata Hard Drive - Motherboard Issue

I have a second machine with the following hardware:
A8N-SLI (Non Deluxe)
Maxtor Sata 150 80GB 7200 rpm

Basically, the problem is that anything that I download has the potential to get corrupted. When I perform windows updates, many of them fail over and over.

When I download software to install or unzip, the executable will be corrupted, or the zip file will be corrupted.

If I copy data from a CD, the data is fine. I've replaced the hard drive with an identical hard drive and I still have the same problem with downloads.

If I use an IDE hard drive, I don't have the problem anymore.

The problem seems to be only with data that is downloaded onto an SATA hard drive.

I've installed the new nForce drivers off the nvidia site (I downloaded them from a separate computer and burned to a CD).

I also updated the BIOS of the motherboard to the latest version 1.07

None of this has seemed to help. Any ideas?

I read that some users are having issues with NCQ, I think that maybe the root of the problem. Unfortunately, I don't recall the fix, but if you do a forum search in this section, you should find it.

I looked up some info about NCQ and TCQ, but most websites were not real clear as to what options in the device manager enable it and disable it.

One site did explain that if you uninstalled the nVidia drivers for the hard drives, altogether, it fixes the problem. You lose out on the performance features, but its not like they're working well with the current drivers anyway.
