First off, hello everyone. Newly registered to these boards, but not a new reader. Sorry that my first post is a 'Help me out please post', but I really do need help ;=)

Got myself a new system today (completely, everything) but it ain't quite working out as I had hoped.

Hardware in question:
Motherboard: Asus P4G8X Deluxe (Granite Bay)
(Silicon Image Sil3112A controller chipset)
Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda V Serial ATA (120gb, 8mb)

What I want:
To install Windows XP Pro on that 1 Barracuda, and have NO other HardDrive in the system at all. Simple enough I thought, guess not :/

Problem:
Windows XP in itself will not find the drive. Ok, that's not so bad I thought, I can open with dos, grab the drivers from the Asus CD-rom, copy to diskettes, reboot with Win XP CD, halt it by pressing F6 (for SCSCI, RAID 'n other devices) and then load up the drivers, and thus enabling win XP to see that I have a drive so it can install on it.

Well, my theory didn't work.

Windows XP installation refuse to 'Browse' and it's being very picky if it's missing a single file on the diskette, it doesn't allow me to, 'Please insert disk with file_01' but instead shuts down. Gah. So much for trying to make a driver diskette.

So I surfed around, because the only drivers I got from Asus was the CD-rom (where I can find tons of SATA related drivers, but to make them into a CD for Win XP installation program is another thing entierly)I tried all over the place and found this:

" 2. Press F6 for third party SCSI or driver installation at the beginning of text mode installation. Press 's' when setup asks if you want to specify an additional device, and insert the diskette labeled 'Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Driver Installation Disk'.
Press 'Enter' and select 'Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Serial ATA Controller'.

3. Press 'Enter' again when prompted to continue on with text mode setup.

4. Follow the setup instructions to select your choice for partition and file system."

Pretty please with sugar on the top, I do NOT have those diskettes!

I'm going nuts here trying to either FIND someplace to download those disks, or finding somewhere that tells me how they are supposed to look/structured so I can make some myself. I can download a 5.something mb zip file from Asus, that contains the same thing that's on my CD-rom, from Silicon Image I found nothing, and neither from Seagate.

Anyone have em? Any other tips? Anyone know HOW that or those diskettes are supposed to look like / be built?

Help would be appreciated, I've been at it for the entire evening, and I do admit defeat :p
