Well, my old(but not totally crap) 7200 rpm finally died...luckily only a day after doing a full backup. I'm currently running off of an old 5800rpm(or whatever it is) drive for just my system files since my 120 gig is NTFS formatted but for some reason windows refuses to install on it because it doesn't have the proper partition(no clue what that means, and I need to go pick up some more DVDs to back this drive up before I can format it.) My question is, Do I go and get another Maxtor 7200 RPM drive with 8mb cache and run it RAID0 with the current one, or should I go get a SATA harddrive in preperation for the future? I realize that the RAID0 would be much better for the now, but would SATA RAID0 preperation now be much better?(Will the motherboard manufacturers be phasing out IDE RAID capabilities in the future?)

what time in the future are you planning for?

in the future, drives will be faster, bigger, cheaper, more reliable [haha]

if you are planning on upgrading in 3 years time, then just ignore all the bullshit and get ata. - the 200gig sata drive you get now will seem like an 8gig hdd in not such a long time.
