SATA for HDDs, what about the other drives?

Now that HDDs are moving onto the SATA platform and have thin cabling, what about the other drives in a system? I imagine optical drives would in the future come with a SATA interface? But what about the floppy? I don't think the floppy is dead... yet... and I use mine quite a bit.

I know it's an older part that will die, but before it dies, will it ever get a thin cable like SATA? I know it's kinda silly, but if all the other drive cables become thin, it'd be kind of weird with a floppy that's still a ribbon type cable.

The Opticals will/do although no benefit will be seen other then the cable and as far as Floppy's go it won't happen (different port and even slower) so if a thin cable is wanted then they make the round ones or USB is available.

There are rounded floppy cables, same as there are rounded PATA IDE connectors. That should probably suffice. They'd have to change the connector to do any other kind of smaller cable, and there's no point.
