I'm looking to get one soon. Probably the $34 Sony/NEC at this LINK
Never having owned a sata based dvd burner before or followed much discussion on them, my question is how does the audio transfer to the computers sound system so you can listen to Cd's in real time over your computers speakers? In all the pictures on newegg I see the sata data connector and sata power connector on back and thats it. No audio connector to attach a cable from the drive to the mobo or sound card. And it appears this is common on all of the pictures of sata dvdr drives on newegg. What gives?
As I finish typing this the only solution I can come up with is that audio from a sata drive is transfered over the sata data cable to the bus and at that point is either sent to the onboard audio chip or to an expansion audio card via the PCI bus. Hence no need for a seperate cable. Yes?? No??
