SATA drives + floppy required?

I've built a couple Shuttle Intel PCs that all required the SATA drivers be loaded via floppy before XP would recognize the sata drive- does this hold true for nForce4 ultra boards as well?

If the mobo has native SATA support built in, you will not need to install drivers. The NF4 boards have this capability, so you're fine.

You're fine unless you want to do RAID.
