SATA drives disappearing

I've got a problem with the Silicon Image 3114 SATA Raid controller on my A8N-SLI Premium. Randomly while I'm listening to music or playing a game, the drive that the data is being read from will disappear from my computer, lock up whatever game I'm playing, and shows up as missing in my disk management. If I reboot, it's there. It will show up in the bios of the raid controller on start up. I've tried wiggling the cables and disconnecting/reconnecting the drives. The drives are still physically spinning after they disappear, so they aren't losing power and shutting off.

I've tried replacing the SATA cables with no success. Any ideas?

My mate had exactly the same problem as you. And it was fixed by purchasing a new PSU. So i'm going to go ahead and say it's your PSU.

yeah maybe psu, but also, it may sound weird, but don't put any unshielded speakers near the cable, and try to make the sata cable in a straight line or something because I heard sata cables are unshielded 🙂

I can't afford to just buy a new PSU to replace this new-ish S12-600....

I looked at the SATA power cables, it looks like one is sort of bowed outwards in a manner that the power terminals could not make contact with the drive. I switched the drives to the other SATA cable rail and have had no problems yet. I hope I don't have to get more SATA drives or else I'll have to use this crappy cable.

Would this be enough to get Seasonic to RMA it for replacement? I already went through an RMA for the corroded SATA connector incident. Bad QC on the SATA power connectors?
