I have a ASUS K8V SE DLX mobo, and a Seagate 120gb SATA hdd. I am wondering, do I have to download the drivers for this drive? I read somewhere that I am suppose to install the drivers by floppy, I havent done that, will my mobo auto recognise it or do i have to d/l the drivers for it to recogise?

If your installing this as a 2nd drive, just plug it in and see if windows will detect it. If it doesnt you will have to download the SATA drivers for your motherboard.

If your wanting to boot from the windows cd because you want to install windows to the sata drive, then you will need the SATA drivers for your motherboard on a floppy disk. As the windows setup starts, there will be a msg at the bottom saying press F6 to install 3rd party scsi/raid drivers. Press F6 and have your floppy with the driver on in handy cause it will ask for it, the rest should be easy to figure out.

on your motherboard disk, there is a make Sata driver disk utility. right click on the CD and click explore. Find the make disk utility and it will put the drivers on a floppy. You need those drivers.
