So, whats the bottom line on having to Preload SATA drivers during Windows XP Pro installation? Which SATA controllers are supported during install and which are not requiring a Driver intervention (F6) effort?

I've never had to load any drivers but I use Windows XP with SP2 integrated. I don't use a RAID config. RAID configs will probably require a driver.

That depends on your mobo and BIOS. Example, the Asus P4E links SATA and RAID. You can't have one without the other, and that is turned on or off in BIOS. When ON, it loads the SATA/RAID drivers before Windows even starts loading. If that doesn't happen, SATA doesn't exist. But that is only on that mobo. Other newer ones are more liberal. Follow your mobo's manual.

If you require a program to help you slip stream a driver I have been a big fan of nLight (sp?) Google it, works great.
