Sata Driver Issues

I'm trying to install my OS on my raptor, so I downloaded the SATA drivers from Silicon Image's website -- so I copy the files on the floppy, boot from the XP cd, press F6 to load the drivers, select the drivers i want off the floppy, and I can see the drive in the partition manager. I can format the drive as well. Now, when the setup gets ready to copy files, it asks to insert the disk labeled "Silicon Image SiI 3x12 RAID Driver Installation Disk" -- its the same floppy that was in there before, so I have no idea why its asking for another disk. I tried labeling the floppy in windows, but its not a valid name (too long I suppose) -- Anyone have any ideas? The motherboard is an A7N8X-E Deluxe with the onboard Silicon Image chip -- TIA

Please try leaving the diskette in the floppy drive until the installations of Windows is completely finished. I believe it has to pull information from the diskette more than once during the installation.

Also, are you positive you have to correct version of the Silicon drivers ? Are you getting them from the motherboard manufacturer ? I have found that to be best. I believe that sometimes the driver directly from Silicon may not be exactly compatible with motherboards.

Good luck.

its most likely a BIOS setting for SATA. like the sata controller is not enbled correctly. or the sata drive is connected to the wrong motherboard port

I leave the disk in the entire time, and never take it out -- I've used several different versions of the drivers. I've used 2 sets from Silicon, and 2 sets from Asus.

If it were either of those, I would think that it wouldn't pick up the driver when I pressed F6 in the beginning, SEE the drive in setup, FORMAT the same drive, and then give me an issue with the floppy after.

Does anyone have a good guide on how to slipstream the drivers onto the XP cd?

Have you tried version 1.0.0.50 of the driver from the ASUS website ?

Also, are your BIOS at version 1013 ?

Also, it does seem to me that there is a parameter in the BIOS that has some effect on the functioning of this but I have not been able to find it so far. I think it may be hidden down in one of the sub-menus.

I'm pretty sure I've tried the 1.0.0.50, but I've tried so many that I don't even remember anymore. I'm not sure what my BIOS version is off-hand, so I'll try it flashing it if it's not the latest version. I've googled forever, and 2 other people had the same issue, but a resolution was never found (or atleast posted).

so i slipstreamed the drivers, and now it actually copies the setup files onto the drive -- however, now, when the pc goes to reboot, it freezes after the post, or at the screen where it says Press any key to boot from cd.....
