Sata Drive not functioning in Windows

I have an Asus A8V-E delux mobo. In the bios it see's the new Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive as a SCSI drive. When I boot into windows it has a ? next to Raid Controller. I went to the Asus website and downloaded the SATA RAID controller driver, when I install it windows acts like it takes the driver but then says it needs to restart. When I restart it just sits at the Windows Screen forever so I had to boot into safe mode and do a system restore. Anyone know what I could do? Is there a general Raid controller driver that might make it work right? Also is there a driver or software I can use while booting off the Windows XP cd that will allow it to see the drive? I want to do a new install on this drive.

Update on this.

I changed the SATA mode from RAID to IDE and now it shows up when I boot from the windows cd. Only other thing I was wondering about was even after I changed it to IDE when I booted into my existing windows I wasn't seeing the driver anywhere.
