My system Vitals

ECS NU400a Nforce 2 board with AMD 3200+ XP CPU

Dual Cahnnel 1g ram

I have a SigII sata card installed.

The Sata drive is a Samsung. Everything seemed fine until I noticed that my application would load very slowly on the Sata drive and I would hear teh drive make 'clicking' sounds while loading. Control panel says teh drive is installed and working ok. Reinstalled teh sata card drivers , still same issue. Replaced teh sata card with smae new card , problem remained.

Anyone?

First make sure the drive the drive is set to UDMA (as opposed to PIO) mode.

Likely the drive is dying. Backup your files and be thankful you got some warning. RMA it if it's still under warranty.

The problem here is this is the second drive with same issue! 2 different Satas and my first died giving exact same symptoms? can it be my MOBO? But computer is working fine otherwise? And like I said, I swapped a new sata card too!

I would tend to doubt the mobo being the culprit. The power supply is more likely. Outside factors (magnetic, electrical fields, etc) can also cause a drive to fail.

As to multiple drive failures, something to consider is the fact that most hard drive manufacturers have had at least one series of drives that were prone to failure. Your's might be one of such a series.
