SATA Controllers

Hello,
I was planning on buying the MSI NEO2 I865 Motherboard and I was wondering if the Promise 20378 controller that the board has is as good as the ICH5R controller that some of the other boards with this chiopset have for SATA. I plan on buying a SATA hardrive and maybe use SATA RAID if I buy a second drive in a while or so. If anyone could give me some info on what SATA controller is better or which SATA drive I should get it would be appreciated. Welcome to the forums,

first off, are you just tring to add extra drives? Do you already have drives to work with?(what kind)

What do you plan to use the PC for?

(I'd tell you about that card, but I dont know, atleast my reponse will "bump" you back to the top of the forum )

If you have any questions about RAID fire them, only thing to consider is that performance RAID ( 0, 5, 0+1) will all require yo to "clean" the drives to set up the array, so adding a second drive later is kinda dificult.

I want to know which controllers are the fastest.
I'm buying the MSI I865. It uses Promise controller and the other boards, almost all of them use the Intel controller.
