SATA connections on my P5Q

I'm trying to hook up a sata hd into 1 of the 2 sata connectors, designated SATA E1 and E2, the orange and white connectors near the bottom of the MB. According to the manual, they are Silicon 5723 connections. I can't seem to get bios to recognize the drive. What is it that I'm overlooking? I know there are the regular 6 connectors above this, but I've used them up with all that I do (audio, video, games, root drive, optical drive etc.) Nothing is disabled in bios, all is set up as IDE, not raid etc.

I may not be quite right on this, but dont you have to install DriveExpert and change some setting in that for E1 & E2?
