Is there any differance between SATA I cables and SATA II cables? Is this like the differance between USB 1.1 and USB 2 cables, which is more of a sales pitch then anything else.
 
USB2 cables have tighter tolerances and higher requirements for shielding - but that wasn't your question.

SATA2 cables have retention clamps, whereas SATA1 cables have an annoying tendency to fall off.
