SATA Cables vs ATA Cables

I know that SATA cables are smaller, yet i also hear that there are problems with them as well. Can anyone provide a link perhaps which discusses this topic. Or can anyone just shed some light and enlighten me as to which is more reliable and perhaps their reasoning as well.

Quick answer is this, SATA cables are easier to get on and off, some people have crap laying weight on them and they come off, same goes for them unpluging them all the time causing excess looseness or just using shoddy cables that dont fit right.

You're not supposed to bend a standard SATA cable at 90 degrees, or crease it like you could a PATA cable. That's what I've read, though, I don't own any SATA components.

They're both made of wires, so theoretically they will be equally reliable (assuming equal wire quality). As for the connectors, I have experienced 0 of the problems that have been brought up about SATA cables. The SATA cables are obviously going to have a less snug fit than the PATA (which has LOTS more pins to connect to). However I have yet to unhook one of my SATA drives accidently while poking around in case (not that I do that much when the computer is on anyways 😛).

As for the size, you can't beat the SATA cables, yes the standard cables don't bend at 90 degrees, but they are loads easier to route than PATA cables IMHO (even rounded ones).

Edit: Here's an example of the ease of routing.
