SATA Cables - Rated for speed?

I'm wondering if SATA cables are rated for certain speeds like PATA cables. With PATA you could get 66/100/133 rated cables. Is it the same for SATA?

Are you restricted in any way by using a 4 year old SATA cable with a new SATA II hdd?

No, there is no speed rating. The only change that I'm aware of is that some of the cables are coming with clips and the like to help them secure to devices better.

unless you're talking 80 pin vs 40 pin?

that is it - 80 wire vs 40 wire - 40wire = ata66 and slower and 80wire was 100/133 (and 133 was basically a marketing deal from maxtor)

Some of the new cables that are market for SATA II may have better shielding - hard to tell. But they do have those metal clips to help keep them in place. I just bought 5 from the Egg with a rt. angle end and a straight end. I like the rt. angle for the drive end.

Uh, no. 40 wire = ATA33, 80 wire = ATA66, 100, and 133,

Then it will never actually run at UDMA4, since the cable is checked by the hardware to make sure it's a 80 conductor cable before the mode can be enabled. Not that it really matters. Even UDMA2 is plenty for DVD burners.
