SATA boot issue

This is more of a minor annoyance then a problem but anyway..

I recently added a an extra PCI SATA card to gain an extra two SATA ports, I had two on the board already. The problem is the new card doesn?t show HD activity though the LED on my case and the new card insists on the boot drive.

Could a boot loader pointing to the boot drive on the original controller work?

Try changing the boot order in the BIOS.

Have On-board SATA/IDE come before Add-in card (or whatever your options may be).

As far as the LED, that's odd - it really should be lighting up... maybe theres a mention in the manual about that.

I can't specify between the two SATA controllers in the BIOS but the new card always boots first and if the OS drive isn't on that controller i get the "no operating system found" error.

I can't find the manual right now but it's a pretty simple card, no jumpers to change or anything. It's based on a Silicon Image chip, here is the product page.

What about the boot loader idea, would that even work?
