SATA boot drive, Win 2k, and nForce3 250. Do I need a SATA driver disk for Win 2k install?

About to try one of the cheapie Chaintech nForce3 250 boards using my Raptor as a boot drive in Win 2k but I can't seem to find a driver disk for the install. Am I missing something, do you not need the SATA driver disk for a SATA boot drive Win 2k install?

Hey Bar,

You do not need a driver disk if you are using win2k with the SATA boot drive. I installed win2k onto a sata drive with no problems using a win2k cd...

I love my cheapie vnf3-250...very nice despite the "cheap" price.

Cheers,
DJM

Cool, thanks. My only concern right now is whether the DTR I have will run in the board. Well, no turning back now ;)

I was pretty sure that you did need the drivers on a floppy for Win2k to install on a SATA drive.

This is exactly what I am trying to do, install Win2k on a 120GB Maxtor SATA hard drive.

So far I have been unable to have the Win2k installation see this drive. I have tried it without any drivers and with the RAID drivers and the nForce Storage drivers.

I'm really at a loss as to why I can't see this drive.

I just copied all the files from the nForce3 250 nforce drivers in the IDE\Win2k folder and used it as an install disk and that worked fine. Just use winrar to extract the drivers so that you can access the individual folders.
