SATA 6Gbps PCIe card

Hi!

I have a sata 2 mobo and I'm looking for a fast sata 3 PCIe card that provides full sata 3 speed.

I just want:
  • AHCI support
  • Full SATA3 speed

It can have only 1 port for all I care, no RAID, ... .

Please post your experiences and suggestions.

I have a full PCIe 2.0 x16 to spare. And it'll work in x16 mode because I only have one GPU installed.

For SSD drives ?
I think you will be disappointed if you anticipate SATA 3 being an improvement over SATA 2 where mechanical drives are concerned .

I think that as soon as you plug a card into your x16 slot, you'll find that both that slot and your GPU's slot will become x8. Could be wrong there, depends on your motherboard.

I would suggest you just go to Newegg and look at the best sellers or top rated, and find something you're willing to pay for. Highpoint is the established budget brand, but there are all kinds to choose from. Once you get up to the $100+ price point, you'll start seeing cards from the companies that make server hardware (Supermicro, LSI, Adaptec, etc.).
