SATA 3 with sata II cable

Do i need a special marked sata 3 cable to get full sata 3 speeds? or will a standard sata 2 cable do?

The only real difference is OEM QC. Odds are, it will work OK.

Do you actually have cables marked SATA II? As "SATA II" is a non existent name that SATA-IO is constantly denouncing as it means nothing.

Looking at my own cables that I have sitting here, there is no speed designation on them at all (1.5, 3, or 6). These are basic red cables that came with a mobo.

At the online shop most are called SATAI-II cable. a few are explicitly marketed as SATA-3. But it seems to be a marketing trick? will see...

As stated in previous threads, the same thing was done with USB1.0 and USB2.0 cables. They are the same thing, the only difference is added marketing to get suckers to buy new cables when the "old" ones work just fine.
