did a google search and found this thread where it says TRIM might not be supported?
You run into the possibility of losing TRIM support depending on the chipset/drivers of the card.
is this true?

my mb is a gigabyte p45-ud3p

That's true with any chipset/drivers. However, with a P45 board, as long as you're using W7 with the embedded MS driver or the Intel RST driver version 9.6 or newer, then TRIM should be enabled. If you're not using W7, then you don't have TRIM.

Edit: I shouldn't say that you don't have TRIM, but I should say that you don't have OS level TRIM support. You could still get TRIM if you have a drive utility like Intel's SSD Toolbox. Not sure if Crucial has a similar tool or not
