sata 2 vs sata 3?

Depends. Do you have a device that needs more than 300 MB p/s of bandwidth, like an SSD? If so, yes. If you have a mere HD, no.
 
mechanically HDD no. you can't saturate sata2 with a mechanical hdd, let alone sata3. like blazer said, ssd will peg the needle on sata3. even then, an ssd only maxes out sequential read/write, which only happens when you're copying a lot back and forth between other SSDs or arrays.
 
Makes sense, have an ssd in current system and building a simular system, the board going to be getting supports sata3 and mine currently doesnt was wondering if would even be worth while to toss the ssd in with newer board. Not rly worth the effort it seems. Thanks for the info.
