All laptop drives are the same physical size, and SATA 3 drives are backward compatible so they should work with a machine that supports SATA 2. The SATA 3 drive will perform at SATA 2 speed.
To find out what your machine supports, if you have the manual for your machine, there should be a specifications page that will tell you if it supports SATA 3.
If you don't have the manual or spec sheet, go to the manufacturer's site, and search for your model number. If you can't find it easily on their site, just search Google for the model number "in quotes," + specs. That should bring up numerous links to sites that can give you the info you need.
