sata 2 on gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI / Maxtor sata 2 drives

Which sata inputs are sata 2 (300 rate) on this motherboard? The yellow or the red? The motherboard manual is confusing me because it says there are 2 sata controllers.

Also does anyone have the new maxtor sata 2 300 gig drives working properly on this motherboard? i got one refurbished from new egg and the drive was bad.

See my other thread in this forum about this same topic. I can't get the drive to work on the nvidia (yellow) ports. It works just fine on the Silicon Image (red) ports. But I'm worried that there might not be a lock on those ports when overclocking.

i run a wd raptor 74 sata in the yellow ports it runs just fine. This maxtor drive sata 2 300 gig is a nightmare. I ran the diagnostic test and it said the drive is defictive..doing a rma on it
