Sata 2 mb & ssd

I have an Asus P5Qsomething. Its definitely an sata 2 board. Essential the least expensive SSD drive would perform similar correct?
My main goal is faster start up times

I run SSD's in all my stuff.
Everything from Sata2 to Sata3.
Aside from benchmarks, you won't notice much difference between a Sata2 and a Sata3 for general usage. If any they would be negligible.

Don't go for least expensive SSD. Go for a well reviewed SSD that sits in the middle of the pack.

There are some great deals on Samsung Evos and Crucial MX100 right now. Pick either one in the space\price range you feel comfortable with.

^^^ I agree... don't get a bargain SSD, get a reasonable SSD like the MX100. Prices are low enough you don't have to make concessions. Don't get cheap on the space either, I always recommend a minimum of ~120GB, better a ~240GB if there is any reason you would anticipate the need for the space.

3rded. I would also add the following as solid models, with good prices now:
Sandisk Ultra II, Ultra Plus, Extreme II, Extreme Pro
Crucial M550

Cheapest of any of those listed thus far ITT should do very well, and some places still have well-priced ones of 240-512GB in stock.

even SATA1 you would notice a huge speed improvement. For sequential reads, 150MBps is enough for anybody. For random reads/writes, 150MBps is INCREDIBLY FAST.
