Hey all!

I want to buy a SATA 150 HDD to upgrade from my old, clicking IBM Deskstar.

I'm looking to spend about £50-£80 ($90-$150), I just wanted to know if there are any nightmares out there which I should avoid?

Any tips would be gratefully received

btw my mobo can't do SATA II

Thanks

SATA II drives should all run as SATA I , and most (all?) include jumper pins to force SATA I mode if it isn't detected automatically.

Samsung is a good brand, but most are safe so buy based on price, capacity, and warranty.

So I've read some good reviews of this Samsung HDD but because it's SATA II I've been searching for something else.

Are you saying that it's just a matter of a jumper change so it works with my mobo?

Yes, I've used SATA II Samsungs with my 3-year-old P4 motherboard, they worked perfectly.

(And they do include a SATA I jumper setting for your peace of mind)
