SAT Rescoring

I took the US History Subject test in May and I was very confident that I knew the material. I got my score this week and it was 690 (which isn't a BAD score, but far below what I was expecting).

I want to have College Board hand score the test, but it's $50 if they don't find a mistake, which is money that I don't want to throw away.

Have any of you ever tried it? Did it work?

I doubt it's worth it, unless you have reason to believe that the machine would misread multiple answers (maybe if you had eraser marks all over or something).

Well, I remember I accidentally skipped a bubble and answered 5 questions before I realized I had skipped the bubble, and then I erased and changed ....

Also, I'm pretty sure I knew the material. There were only 4 or 5 questions I weren't sure about (out of 90). Plus, I had taken the AP the day before, so I was in "history mode"

I wouldn't spend the money unless you really felt that there was a possibility that your erasure marks could have altered your score. How much does it take to re-take the test itself?

Well, considering that I didn't take the test today (I took only Math Level 2), I'd have to wait until November or December (since I'm retaking the SAT I in October - i want to break 2350 😛). Plus I'd have to restudy.

It's about $20 for an SAT II sitting.

I already called College Board and they're going to fax over the form on Monday.

I go to a school where 4 students scored 2400 on the first ever sitting of the new SAT (out of 107 in the nation) and another 10 broke 2350. When GPA's of the top students differ by hundredths, every little bit helps

$50 is what, 90 minutes in college? Pay the $50 if it will make you feel better.

I don't think thirtythree "Knows about all that college junk and stuff", and I'm sure in his opinion you would be better off with a rewarding career pushing carts at Target.

I would go for the rescore. If you're really that confident in yourself, you'd be best off just getting it out of mind.

thirtythree actually has a good point, getting a 1550 or 1600 (old sat) was just about the same thing (i'm talking about getting into ivy league schools....which i am assuming you are?) ....its more dependent on your unique abilities...the people that I knew that got into the top schools were amazing pianist, violinest, artists, etc. not 1600 SAT....but then again if you have no unique talent, maybe shoot for that 2400 and hope for the best 😛

Well, I do do other activities, but my friends' 2320s, 2350s, and 2390s all look better than my 2290.
