I am curious how the colleges take the SAT scores if a student takes SAT I more than one time.

1) Would they take the best score from Math and English regardless of testing dates?

2) or the best combined (math and english) on a single test date?

anyone knows?

<< The best score overwrites any lower one. The only one that will count is your highest. >>

Sections are not mixed and matched. If you got a higher total (math and verbal) on the exam the first time, that counts. If you get a higher total the second time, that one counts.

1st Math + 1st Verbal

OR

2nd Math + 2nd Verbal

Whichever sum is higher.

That's not always true, some colleges take your best total, some take your best from each section and combine them. Something you must look into at the college you wish to apply to.

That's not necessarily true. I think it might depend on the admissions policies of the college. For example, the SAT score that my college considered with my application was the highest of my math scores and the highest of my verbal scores, even though they appeared on two separate tests.

I took it a second time and dropped 70 points, so don't assume you'll do better, though it's possible.

Like many said, some school will take the best of the verbal and the best of the math. However, some schools takes the highest of the combined scores. Really depends on the school.

Also, don't take the SAT I more than 3 times. From what i heard, if you take the SAT more than 3 times, some schools will average all the scores of all the SAT's you took rather than taking the highest one.

I also heard that if you take the SAT multiple times (as in more than 3 times) some colleges will consider that you were "coached" and your scores don't show your actual intelligence, just your ability to do better on the same type of test every time. What this means on the bottom line I have no frickin clue.

did your college tell you that? When I checked some colleges' admission sites, they didn't mention how to take the scores. They simply say one should take SAT, then show average score for the freshmen.
