I am sure many of you saw this coming and a few even predicted it.
What does the media blame each time something goes wrong? Video games of course.
After incidents like Columbine, remember what the cause was? Violent FPS shooters like Quake.
Just 5 minutes ago on the news guess what they blamed? Microsoft Flight Simulator. They seem to suggest that the attacked was provoked just because there are realistic landmarks and realistic planes. They even had an "expert" demonstrate a simulation of the actual attack. Yup, it's easier to slap a label on a game than face the real cause of problems. Training security staff is expensive compared to feel good ratings.
What next? Teenage pregnancy caused by Tomb Raider? Political coups caused by Civilization? Vigilanteism caused by Max Payne?
*** SIGH ***
The same vicious circle of scapegoatism is beginning to rear it's ugly head. Expect to hear more about realistic flight sims in the coming weeks.
