I'm sorry, but your definition of ID is simply not correct. Guided evolution is not ID.
I'm also sorry Mr. Webster, but I believe you will find millions of Americans have a more generalized view of the concept than you're willing to acknowledge. If you're willing to shoot yourselves in the foot by refusing to recognize your opinions aren't some immutable law of nature, so be it. It's exactly that kind of arrogance that keeps so many Christians pulling the little 'R' lever each election.

I don't care if millions of Americans think ID is something that it isn't. ID has a very specific definition, and just because you think it should mean something else doesn't mean that it does. If you want to discuss it under a different and new definition, then list it.

I cannot see how you can take Sarah Palin seriously. She is not ready for the white house. She does not have enough experience. Biden is much more suitable, he has the experience. He is strong for you.

Guys, I'm done. The common meanings of words and phrases aren't based on Supreme Court decisions. They come from the way terms are used by the popular media and the people around you. Those popular media don't share your narrow legal definition of ID. In the popular lingo, ID is a general belief that an external intelligence shaped evolution. According to the polls I saw, that's over 50% of all Americans.

My point, which seems to be sailing over your heads, is that when you mock Palin for believing in ID, you aren't just attacking that small fringe of people who want to push renamed creationism into our schools. You're attacking millions of "normal" Christians who know only the popular definition of ID, and who believe in that form of ID themselves. While you sit smugly with your superior knowledge of Kitzmiller v. Dover, they perceive you to be talking about them. That perception is their reality. You may not care what those uneducated millions think, but they believe you are attacking them, that you are mocking their faith, and guess what? They resent it, they resent your arrogance, and many of them will therefore come to resent your candidate. That is the reality, no matter how much you want to argue legal minutiae. Ignore it at your candidate's peril.

Later,

Unless you can show Palin's faith is tainting her responsibilities and actions as a public official, it's a non-issue that only makes the Obama camp look hateful and bigoted. With so many substantive reasons to criticize Palin, why spend any time on something inconsequential that could easily backfire?

No, I'm sorry, but it isn't. It's your erroneous definition of ID. What you are describing is known as Theistic Evolution. ID is NOT compatible with evolution, as the cornerstone of ID is that "man ain't no monkey" and life is too complex to have evolved into its current form, but rather was created, as is. The millions of Americans you alude to who believe god guided evolution are evolutionists, even if you and they don't know it.

I challenged you to find ONE link that says ID is "guided evolution." You replied I should go first.

Here you go:

wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theistic_evolution

In pertinent part:

Relationship to intelligent design
Some adherents of theistic evolution hold that the deity both designed the universe and has a continuing part in its development, and feel that a term they favour has been hijacked by the proponents of the viewpoint called "Intelligent design". One notable proponent of theistic evolution, Francis Collins is a critic of Intelligent design.

Haven't checked in here for a while and realize I've been missing gems such as this.

I retract my previous advice about getting help. Your views are much to valuable for comic relief. Don't change a thing.

I wonder if palin could survive having a kid who is gay - or if she would develop a cheney-like personality.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised to hear Palin bust out with "How is babby formed?"

I think why a lot of Dems don't have issues with Dem politicians + bible rhetoric is that they believe their politicians would use bible teachings to help others.

While Repubs( & other crazy right wingers) use the bible to justify persecution and war.

pointless without corroboration.

Well, someone could just ask her.

there's no way to prove that she's not just making stuff up. see also: the charge that McCain called his wife a wise and beautiful woman, despite no one ever backing up the story in a room full of journalists except the one who wrote an anti-McCain book.

But you're right. It's not like we don't have a video of her being blessed by a witch hunter.

because tolerance for other cultures is a terrible thing...

I tolerate her religious fanaticism, but it's still insane. I have the right to call her a wacko just as she as a right to be blessed by witch hunters.

If she believes it, that is dumb. But we are going on one single eye-witness...

But then again, Biden believes that global warming is 100% man-made. To each their own religion.

Lest anyone think Palin is alone in her, uh, enlightened views on education, McCain also has a few gems in the closet:

Ten Commandments would bring virtue to our schools
Q: Does posting the Ten Commandments in schools invalidate the religious expression of children who are not in the Judeo-Christian heritage?
A: We begin our proceedings every day in the US Senate with a prayer. Now, it doesn?t have the beneficial effect that some desire, but it seems to be acceptable for the Senate to do that. Virtues [like telling the truth are] exemplified in the Ten Commandments. They could be and should be taught in every school in America.

A refresher (includes variances for denomination/religion):

I am the Lord your God
You shall have no other gods before me
You shall not make for yourself an idol
You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
Honor your father and mother
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
You shall not covet your neighbor's house/wife

Yeah, these are useful secular instructions (especially the first 5) that every school in America should teach its students, especially the heathen non-Judeo/Christian ones.
