***SARAH HUGHES WINS GOLD in WOmans figure skating*** WOOT WOOT

Aquaman

Lifer
The right person won the gold tonight 😀

Sarah Hughes Gold
Slutskya (sp?) Silver
Michelle Quan Bronze

Cheers,

Aquaman

i don't believe any event that you are judged on is a sport and should be excluded from the olympics.... sure it would ruin winter olympics... but eh...

Wow, I was sure that they were going to screw Hughes out of the gold.

I imagine the Russians won't be happy about an American jumping up from 4th
to take the gold away from Slut (not that Sarah didn't rightfully earn the gold).

She deserved it. I thought she was going to get pushed aside for the more accomplished skaters but I think the judges did the right thing.

<< Kwan denied AGAIN! >>

Dang it! And my friends laughed when I said that a white girl was gonna take the gold... 😀

I knew that Kwan was gonna buckle under the pressure.... ah well, she's still the best in my book 🙂

<< Kwan denied AGAIN! >>

Well it was Kwan's to lose, and she lost it. Cant dispute the way it came out, if Kwan had skated cleaner it would have been no contest, all she needed to do was beat Slutskaya in the long program, she didnt even need to beat Hughes in the long program win gold. Oh well, I was rooting for Kwan to win too.

I though she was going to get robbed also but lucky she won 😀

She didn't skate like Hughes.

<< How do you think Sasha Cohen would have placed if she hadn't fallen? >>

Not first. Sarah's performance was incredible looking.

If she didnt fall she would have won. Why? Hers was the most technical, and that fall took off alot of the presentation scores. She would have won if she hadn't fallen. She had perfect presentation and a prefect skate without that fall.

It's ironic that as a 5 year old Sarah Hughes said during an interview "I want to go to the Olympics and win a Gold medal". Looks like hard work and dedication pays off. 🙂 Not bad for a 16 year old.

Michelle was my sentimental favorite to win the gold (because I thought she deserved to win at the last olympics) but I'm glad Sarah Hughes won because she deserved it. Her long program was probably the most difficult and she performed it flawlessly.

I only wished that Sasha Cohen could have metaled because I think she has the most potential of the 3 American skaters. She looks really graceful on the ice and is just as good technically as anyone else.

Sarah Hughes had a near flawless program, while Sarah Cohen and Michelle Kwan fell on their @sses; the Russian had poor choreography and had one minor trip up. There was no doubt that Hughes deserved to win. She had the best attitude too. Michelle Kwan has a huge sense of entitlement; I'm glad she didn't win.

Sasha is the only woman that can land a quad, so yes she has the best technical skills. IMHO if she didnt fall, she would have won gold as it would have been a perfect skate technical and presentation wise.

<< Michelle Kwan has a huge sense of entitlement. >>

And I thought I was the only one who felt that about her. I root for the underdog this year... go Sarah Hughes!!! She's really cute too... 😱

<< She's really cute too... 😱 >>

Aww.

Actually, she is. 😉

And I agree, her attitude was the best. Did anyone else catch her little "hell yeah" scream right after she landed her last jump? That was cool.

<< "I skated for pure enjoyment," Hughes said. "That's how I wanted my Olympic moment to be." >>

I like her attitude. 🙂

Too bad I don't have cable and don't have time to watch the Olympics.. 🙁 (but then I spend time browsing through ATOT.. uh..)

I have to say that Sasha Cohen's performance, minus the fall, was the most graceful and beautiful. Sarah's was the most technically clean, but she lacks the beauty and grace that Sasha has.

Had Sasha not fallen, she would (or should, in my mind) have placed at least silver.

Slutskaya = a very unfortunate name in English 😉 But her routine was very beautiful.

the Russian would have won if she did her all out free skate, but she didn't. She played it safe, and didnt do to good of job of it. Why she was surprised she placed second I have no idea. Shes use to the competition, she shouldnt have been shocked. I mean she had to of known the free skate breaks any tie. I guess she might not have watched Hughes preformance(most dont watch the others), so I guess she didnt realise Hughes skated technical and perfect.
