Sapphire's X1900 Specs

ATi said time and again that they were doing double development between this and the X1800/1600/1300 series. Fruits of your labors, I suppose.

if this is true...it might just swing me over to ati once again!

Wait and see what nVIDIA counters with first, then make that determination. 🙂

MAN....a jump from 16 pipe to 48?!

that's insane man

the 7800 512 gtx has no chance
lower clock speed AND half the pipe

can it be a typo???? :Q

Try doing some projection research on nVIDIA's next card, and then make statements. This card isn't meant to compete with current generation. We're talking nextgen here.

I know the G71 is coming out

supposely 32 pipe with around 700 core speed

but if ati's surprising us with this "48 pipe" card

nvidia might pull some stunt as well

It's still a 16-1-3-1 config. Not 48 traditional "pipelines." It's still 16 traditional pipes but as evident in this thread, 48 sounds more appealing.

My local shop has X1900s (Connect3D XT, XTX, CrossFire and AIW) listed on their products, and they are taking orders already. None at stock, but i'm tempted to put my order in and replace my X800XL.

edit: typos.

blah blah blah 48 pipes!

I'm sorry, that is all I got from your post. 😉

There are many components to a tradtional "pipe". The R580 keeps 16 pipes, but a certain part of the pipe has tripled in power. This part are the ALUs, or the shader processors. So there are 16 pipes and 48 shader processors, while the X1800 has 16 pipes and 16 shaders. The 7800GTX has 24 pipes and 24 shaders.

lol, I understand, but I was poking fun at RobertR1's comment that "48 [pipes] sounds more appealing," hence proving his point.

48 pixel shaders yes, but they still only got 16 pipelines

16 pipes with 3 pixelshaders per pipe, 16 TMU's 16 ROPS

ETA?

It says that the ETA is 2-4 weeks, but usually they say that when they don't know the exact date (I've had the products that I ordered sooner than that many times). Funny thing is that they have removed XT, XTX and CrossFire models away from their site, just AIW appears to be listed, but It can't be ordered, It just says that it is Coming Soon.

I ordered The X1900XT (Temptation Won before it was removed from their site), and I can see it in my accounts orders, but they have removed all the details. But now I'm feeling that ordering the X1900 might be little too hesitaded, since the Nvidia is releasing their new product soon also. I might cancel the order and wait the release of G71 to see the comparison of the two.

ooooo thats a big plus., though i really want DIVX encoding. since i do alot of that, unless thats what you mean

i was hoping NV could do something with PV to help encode Divx/xvid and the like

id imagine though, that even though sapphire show that on their specs list...i bet things like H.264 acceleration will come in later drivers/versions of avivo?

divx accel on ATI has been around since R300
