sapphire x1950xt replacement

My sapphire x1950xt I bought a month ago just took a crap. It was an open box from newegg and they are being nice enough to give me a refund. It appears I wont be able to get another for anywhere near the ~165.00 I payed since they are not stocked anymore (obviously don't want another open box one).

What is a comprable vid card for around the same price? I don't know a heck of alot about vid cards, I bought that one because it was recommended on this board while I was building my computer. I dont have any prejudices on ati vs. nvidia, just want a good value. I'm a little flexible on price but my wife will scowl at me if I don't stay pretty close to what we are getting back.

Also, please tell me the PSU that came w/ my antec case is good enough for the vid card Earthwatts 500w

there isn't a card that is comparable for the price range anymore. You should just get your money back from newegg and maybe find the same card @ ebay or FS/FT forum.

this is a few $$ more, but see if you can find a 2900 pro for 200-225 in a few days. one of those suckers will absolutely kill an x1950xt, especially that crappy 256 mb version that we got. mine at least has been running smooth as silk since new. I got bored last night and ran 3d mark 06 with 668 core, 936 mem, and cpu at 3.504. got a 6211

also, depending on the time you can wait, 2900gt is supposed to be out very soon, too. it will probably be better than x1950xt but have a similar price.

no, I have the free version. can't enable aa or anything else. it's the 256 mb that's killing it. my highest score is only 6317 here: http://service.futuremark.com/...14&XLID=0&UID=10345345

notice that was at 3.7 too. gpu was same as last night at 668/936.
