Good stuff. My only suggestion is if you like tweaking your cooling and system in general so much, it might pay to simply invest in a water cooling solution or assemble one yourself. When Thermalright V1 Ultra costs $50, SI-120 is $50 and your chipset fan at $15 and other case fans $10, you can probably purchase a water cooling solution that'll perform better, be quieter and cooler to look at.

Otherwise, I enjoy reading about your Endeavors :)

I am very impressed. Nice job all around! So is your computer quite a bit quieter? I know you said yes already, I just wondered by how much. Thanks.

 :D I love it. Nice mod job on the V1

My X1900 mod job looks a little more like this. I'm just waiting for the proper backplate to arrive, then I can get busy!

impressive results. I'm curious about the thermal grease tough, that seemed like a whole lotmore than a thin layer...

The SI-120 cost me $45 shipped new. Everything else is spot on.

I've thought quite seriously about water but I take my computer to my friends house about every month and a half. Its about two hours away and it rides flat on the back seat of my car. Plus a complete wather cooling system would probably set me back at least $250 (I'd have to get the best of the best). So I've just stuck with air for the time being.

Trusy me, it was thin. I had to pull the heatsink off later to fix somthing else and I can verify that it seats with a VERY thin layer of compound between the GPU core and the HS base. anything extra gets squeezed out the sides. Should have taken more pictures....

Sadly that picture makes it look like *MUCH* more was used than there actually was.
