I just downloaded MSI Afterburn and wanted to play around with my overclock using that utility instead of AMD's Catalyst driver.

The voltage shown by MSI is 1.200v for the 4870. What is a safe voltage generally? I have the Toxic edition cooler with is pretty good also. My GPU will run at 820MHz (Catalyst max) without a problem and without a voltage bump. I figured with some more voltage there's probably some more in it.

Does the voltage change with Afterburn affect the GDDR5 as well, or is it just for the GPU core? My video memory has gone as high as 1200MHz, but I get a lot of artifacts in stress tests, but it seemed to game fine. Just to be safe I dropped it back down. So anyway, I wasn't sure if the voltage affected the memory as well, it seems the DDR5 on this card is fairly willing, it may just need a voltage push. Though, I'm not sure if more memory bandwidth would make a difference or not on this card. It still doesn't hurt to try. ;)

I searched, but didn't get anything worth while, sorry if this has been asked before.
