Is Sapphire really that awful? If i get a Sapphire Radeon X1800XT, and it breaks, am I screwed? Whats the difference between a Sapphire Radeon and the ATI Radeon? Does Sapphire use shittier components to build the board or something?
For retail products, Sapphire may offer a two-year warranty versus ATI's one-year (recently reduced). Bundles and unimportant schtuff like stickers may also differ but otherwise the card itself may be identical from the same assembly line. Generally I would recommend saving some scratch with an OEM if possible but given minimal price difference the retail may have a better resale value (in addition to a onger warranty assuming you do not replace the cooler thus voiding it).
Sapphire cards are great cards and it is true that they make the cards that ATI puts their sticker on. I'd go with the Sapphire cause you will generally get a better deal on price and it's really the same card.
