SAPPHIRE Radeon X850XT

Well I have just ordered myself a SAPPHIRE Radeon X850XT for $120 @ Newegg.
I'm using a dying 6600GT currently.

My system specs are in my sig.

Anyone else have this card?
Anyone else upgraded to this card from a 6600GT?
Anyone have this card on an ASRock mobo like mine?
Anyone have this card with a cpu like mine?

How well does it run compared to your previous card(s)?
I'm excited...I can't wait to get mine.

Also....
What is the difference between the following:

SAPPHIRE 100106L Radeon X850XT (i ordered this one)
SAPPHIRE 100106SR-RD Radeon X850XT

is it true that the only difference between the X850XT and the X850XT PE is the clock speeds
520 @ 540
1080 @ 1174

is this so?

also what about the difference in these:
SAPPHIRE 100106L Radeon X850XT (i ordered this one)
SAPPHIRE 100106SR-RD Radeon X850XT

Thats the only differnce But Mine is OC to 600 Core and 1200 for RAM.

i found it...

"(100106L & 100106-RD) are the same card its just one is retail and the other is OEM. 100106SR-RD is also the same card but is bundled with two full games that you don't get with either of the other two."

quoted this from another forum...here's the link.

I figured that it was the PE.

How high could I overclock the normal one on stock HSF....520/1080?

Sapphire is a good brand..and the X850XT is still a good and solid card.

I got mine up to 547/580(1060) w/ extensive testing. Make sure you use Ati Tray Tools and set it so it dynamically adjusts the fan-speed depending on temp. Stock fan is ok....and i set it so it runs at 5%, 32%, 36% and 59% as max. (100% would sound like a blowdryer).

Edit: i HIGHLY recommend downloading only the driver packages from ATI without the CCC and use Ati Tray Tools ofr everything, settings, overclocking etc

I don't understand the part where u said "5%, 32%, 36%and 59% as max."
I understand that that is the fan speed but at what temperatures?
Also can i get a link to the driver package without the CCC and the correct ATI Tray Tools download. ( I'm new to ATI).

i have a bb ATi x850xt that clocks way past PE stock speeds . . . probably identical to your card as a lot of them were built by Sapphire.

it is a very nice mid-range card [now] . . . i replaced my 9800XT - close to your GT's performance - with it last January [for $200] and it is about TWICE as fast. You will like it.

Everything in your system looks "balanced" and will make for a good gaming experience at 12x10 or lower. My CPU is a P4 @3.31Ghz and i also have 1GB RAM . . . plays Oblivion perfectly at 11x8 with everything maxed and on {except Grass and self shadows} and even manages 4xAA+Bloom.

that sounds awesome (TWICE) cuz right now i play oblivion on minimum settings. only thing maxed is view distance (which is a must or else you can't see anything). i think i could max oblivion now at 10x7 on my dual core processor. what u think?
oblivion uses two cores right?

I am also interested in playing F.E.A.R. and Crysis.
Does anyone that have this card play F.E.A.R? Tell me how well it runs it. Like frame rate and resolution.
Also include your system specs.

Will my system be able to run Crysis with some eye candy? Could i max it?

*Everything* will be about twice as fast . . . Oblivion Grass is still a problem and forget self-shadows.

FEAR . . . certainly . . . 10x7 with everything maxed plus AA/AF - 'cept that stupid soft shadows

no one knows about crysis ... next gen game . . . probably 'medium' at 10x7 [my guess] . . . sure max at 4x8. 😛

what about the rest of my system specs?

Your motherboard will take a Core 2 Duo if I am not mistaken so I would switch to that over your current processor also move up to 2gb it helps in some current games and will probably be standard for future games shortly. Everything else looks pretty good for some mid end gaming. Heck right now you are probably set for some mid end gaming it's just I would def look at some of the options I showed you.

I just received my x850xt sapphire...but I'm one of those unlucky folks to have a defective card. It ran pretty well on benchmarks and but failed on games. Although it was not a pleasent experience, I'm going to return it for a refund (not much of a lost).

yet I own a BBA x850xt agp, it was a splendid card, and I'm planning to keep as long it can run.

I just spend all my money upgrading to what I have now (don't laugh...lol).
Core 2 Duo is definately on my mind for Q1 or Q2 2007. I just couldn't afford it now.
As for the memory...it would be easy if the board had 4 slots for DDR2.
I would just buy another 2 x 512MB but i guess that would still be limiting.
Next year or MAYBE later this year if i can afford it i will just buy a 2 x 1GB set and change these and still get Conroe next year.
Sounds like a plan?
Keep this board or should I consider just getting a better mobo for my Core 2 Duo next year?

Edit: I'll be keeping this new gfx card until DirectX 10 cards get cheap...lol.
Edit: When is Crysis (or the demo) coming out?

Usually you do the research before you buy the card, not after.

I DID MY RESEARCH.
I just want other people's feedback, their experiences and comparisons.
The X850XT is a great piece of machinery and it can't be beaten within its own price range and even beats some of the higher priced cards.

Well...I finally got it.
So far i've maxed out Farcry and i'm getting 70FPS.
Will post more results later on.
Any comments or questions?

🙂

go PLAY some GAMES . . . 😛
😀

I am trying to "PLAY some GAMES" but i'm having some random crashes that are utterly both worrying and annoying.

Look at my thread in CPU/Processors and Overclocking.

Name: Random Crashes
Description: Please help ASAP

PS: my games run great now though except for the crashes...Farcry is maxed and is totally gorgeous.
