ewiz.com has the Sapphire Radeon HD2600 XT 256mb DDR3 for $112.27 + S/H

This card does not have the DDR4 memory but the memory does not make quiet that big of a difference. This card should perform close to 8600 GTS and outperform a 8600 GT. The 8600GTS is still the better card but the price clearly speaks for itself at the moment.

any idea if places have 2600XT ddr3 vs. ddr4 benchmarks? i'd like to see how much difference it makes, if any. i remember with the X1950XTX the ddr4 version held 0-5% advantage over its ddr3 cousin

It cant be that much difference that it would be worth paying much more. When they compared a HD 2900 XT with DDR3 vs. a HD 2900 XTX with DDR4 there was 0 difference at all in the benchmarks and game performance. The XTX never made it on the market and is only available to OEM's but has been downgraded to an XT with 1gb DDR4.

Seriously not worth to pay the extra money i m sure the DDR3 memory is a little overclockable as well.

yea i think the x1950xtx woulda benefited more from a core overclock than from memory but who knows these cards are pretty starved for memory bandwidth.
