My understanding is that the 2L are not voltage locked but the 3L are locked. Btw there is now a 4L which has a single fan.

You2 I received my Sapphire 3L yesterday and the voltage is not locked you have to use Trixx overclocking utility to change the voltage on this card. You can't change the voltage with MSI AB you have to use Trixx.

4L with the reference blower cooler! This is how the 7950 should have been sold from the start.

Just saw that too. The 2L model is now sold out. I wonder if the 4L model is replacing it.

Do you think a reference blower is better than the Sapphire Dual-X cooler? I'm sure it's louder.

Note that there's actually a second Sapphire reference version out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202031

Ref blower coolers are my favorite plus you get a better quality pcb on these models. Many dualx cards had coil whine and sagging issues. If you check the pictures youll notice the traces are different. I believe they had 2 different reference pcbs. This one is the more robust design. It even has a black pcb. I bet this is voltage unlocked with vrm sensors too. I might buy one to play with. I can use some more free games too.

Isn't SAPPHIRE 100352-3L newer than 2L?
If that is the case, wouldn't 4L be newer and better than 2L?
I don't know much about fans, many say 2 is better and then Rvenger said one quality one is better.
I need to buy one quick, but really cannot find any reviews on this 4L version.
Sapphiretech main website isn't much of help neither

Anyone know the difference between
SAPPHIRE 100352-4L and SAPPHIRE 21196-00-20G?

I think the 2L 3L 4L is only on neweggs..
16G 19G 20G things like these are more general.
Like Bustbuy, they usually have their own line of supply, and some of products even have their own packagings.

Indeed, they are not making it any less confusing and stressful than it already is.
I don't think people will submit reviews until mid or late April for the new ones, so I probably have to bite it before my shoprunner expires.

I just bought another 2L on Tuesday (#4). They are great cards for the $ - all reached 1150 core or more. :)

Can you get the rebates on a 2l and 4l? They share a rebate form, so I don't think so.

I guess I'm late to the party. I've been trying to find a sub $300 (even used!) for a while, but no dice.

How is the reference model better, other than the heat being discharged out the back? Seems like the extra fan and heat pipes would be more efficient at rejecting heat than the reference design. I got the 20L linked above at Superbiz last month, which I believe is the same as the 2L, I notice no coil whine or pcb sagging etc., in fact it seems quite robust and well built. I can run fur mark without the fans passing 46% while staying at 62c. Perhaps I got lucky, or just don't know what coil whine is.

Well, this sucks. I ordered 5 and apparently I'm only eligible for one $20 rebate :/

Seems unfair, and it certainly wasn't spelled out until I read the terms. Would it kill Newegg to note (one per household) on the rebate line, or during checkout, or somewhere?

No, it wouldn't. but it also wouldn't have hurt to check the rebate website yourself.

in other news, got a new e-mail today for same price after rebate. Looks like the 3L based on the picture. was too lazy to click.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Sapphire rebate. I ordered the 7970 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814202008 , $379 with a $20 rebate and the 4 in 1 game coupon on 11/30. I mailed in the rebate on 12/3. On Tuesday 4-16 I received an email from Sapphire saying my rebate is approved and I should receive it in 6 to 8 weeks. I'm glad I'm getting the rebate money but sheesh, 6 to 7 months after I send in the rebate stuff.
