Well, the card has the power cord that hooks up to the power supply. But, there are two ends, a male and a femae end. What do I do with the extra end?
 
Let it hang loose if you don't need it. That extra end is for connecting to another device that needs power in your system (fan, dvd-rom, hard drive...). Some of us manage to use up ALL PSU molex connectors!
 
Even so, I would try to get it on a free chain if possible. I know the 6800s and probably the X800s need a free chain, and if you can, try to do the same for your 9800
