sapphire or ATI's warranty support?

Hi kids,

Got me an X1800XT last summer. It's been great, but lately it's been starting to artifact at about 84C or so after an hour or two of gametime. I figure it's worth a shot to RMA it before the year is up.

Has anyone delt with ATI or Sapphire RMAs? Which one do you think I should go through? Sapphire's support directs me to ATI, but they seem to have their own RMA department.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

If you really have a choice (which I'm not at all sure of) you will want to deal with ATI over Sapphire hands down... Sapphire RMA's can take months, plus they will charge you a fee to exchange your defective card.

Well I agree but after my experience with ATI (not an RMA) however, I wouldn't expect much better from them either.

Thanks for the replies. Starting the process with ATI.

Why is it running at 84C? No idea, it's always run hot. The bios doesn't really turn on the fan until the card is nearly 100C. Since most of the work I do is under Linux, I have no ability to override that.
