My friend bought stuff for a new system and he's been unable to get it to post.

Here's what he purchased:

* Case - Antec Sonata II
* Mainboard - Sapphire PC-A9RD580Adv Crossfire
* Video - eVGA G6600
* CPU - AMD64 3800+
* RAM - 2 x 1GB OCZ DDR 400
* Hard Drive - Western Digital SATA2 16MB 250GB
* Optical Drive - Liteon 16x DVD

I have tested his Mainboard with my Case (Antec Sonata I), Video Card (eVGA Geforce 7800GT), CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3800+), and RAM (Crucial DDR 400). All of that stuff works fine with my mainboard (eVGA nForce4 NF41), but it won't post in his machine. Also, I put all of his components on my mainboard and it posted fine.

He RMAed his mainboard and it still won't post with his new mainboard. We noticed that his mainboard has a 6-pin power connector, but his (and my) power supply only have a four-pin connector.

Does he need to purchase a
4 Pin P4 /12V to 8 Pin P8 /12V Power Supply Converter Cable
