was browsing for card recommendation links and i came across this deal. the card is $100 after instant rebates, with a 15% promo code, bringing it down to $85 ($92 if you live in california). there is no shipping charge or limit on how many you can buy, and if you send in the $10 MIR you can get 2 for $150 (4870 1GB pricing). i only wish i had got a 4850 instead of a 9800GTX now, or i would be ordering one to crossfire along with my new 19x12 monitor i just got lol

ed: also comes with a free HDMI cable

Nice deal, tempting to pick one up for the nephew. Hmm, just got a 4870 though.

Does the Newegg $20 off for preferred account or bill me later apply to this since it's $100 before MIR? that would make this basically $55 or so.

Maybe this deserves its own thread, as I have yet to see it posted, but this card:

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=10009919

is available for $55 after a $20 MIR and the $30 ebillme discount.

That is the route I went last week. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
Going from a 7900GT I paid over $200 for a few years ago to a 4850 for $55...I'm a happy man.

That seems like a great deal.

How much of a difference would I notice going from a 512 MB X1800XT to this 512 MB HD4850?

I'll be picking up ARMA 2 soon so am wondering if a vid card upgrade is needed...

hondaf17 you're going to be limited by your CPU; depending on the resolution you game at. What games do you play?

It will still be a graphics upgrade for you though.

Thanks for the response. I don't play anything right now besides old school games that my system can smoke. However ARMA 2 and COD Modern Warfare 2 once they come out will be a different story.

Really, you think CPU constrained? Since I'm socket 939 to upgrade that route would be new mobo, cpu, and RAM...$130-$150 or so, but then have to to a complete re-install...

Have you tried clicking Returns & Rebates? Looks like it is there.
